About the work

"Drift" is a site-responsive wall installation composed of collected natural fragments — bleached driftwood, seed pods, and small roots — each subtly altered and mounted in a modular grid. The work explores the layered memory of materials displaced by water and time: surfaces retain scars, hollows and knots become eyes or apertures, and small interventions (staining, minimal carving, or inlay) reveal human attention without erasing natural history. Installation is scalable to the exhibition space: individual elements are arranged in rows and columns with adjustable spacing, allowing the piece to read as either an intimate cabinet of curiosities (small gallery walls, 1–2 m wide) or a larger field of objects that activates a whole room (3–6 m or more). Lighting is soft and raking to emphasize texture and cast delicate shadows, reinforcing the dialogue between organic form, time, and the act of preservation. Each element remains unique, underscoring the work’s meditation on singularity within repetition.
