About the work

Inspired by the structural colours created by the interaction of light with the body of the Maratus spider, I sought to reinterpret this natural phenomenon through painting. Using oil paint combined with a glass-like retroreflective texture, the work intensifies its underlying colours when illuminated, echoing the optical behaviour found in nature. Through this piece, I aim to convey the extraordinary power and sophistication of nature in creating complex visual patterns that continue to inspire both art and science.
