Artist Karin Louise Title: To Hell and Back 2025 110 x 90cm Oil on canvas To Hell and Back is a painting about surviving. It explores the emotional displacement that comes when love, faith and certainty fracture, leaving us to rebuild ourselves from what remains. Drawing on symbolism, mythology and the Australian landscape, the work moves between ancestral memory and lived experience, where grief and hope exist together. Water becomes both life and passage, while the landscape holds memories of loss and renewal. The painting asks how we find our way home after everything familiar has been undone, and whether belonging begins with reclaiming ourselves.
